Officially engraved as issued in India to'CHAS. COLLINSON, 24th FOOT'. Corporal Charles Collinson served with the Regiment in the Peninsula War, and was present at Talavera, Fuentes d'Onor, Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees, and Toulouse, and claimed his Military General Service Medal with seven clasps, served in Captain Meacham's Company during the Nepaul Campaign, 1814-16, and participated with his Regiment in the First and Second 'Nepaul' Wars. First sale recorded at Glendinings Jan. 1916, ex Sang Collection 1931, D.N.W. 5/3/96 Lot 27, and Spink 9022 23/7/09 Lot 525. Minor edge bruising. Suspension claw possibly re-affixed and with a scratch in the obverse field behind portrait.

Vicary remained with the Devons for the two Campaigns retaining the same service number, although he was reduced in rank to a Private.
